    Mac - FAQ

How do I establish a connection?

Go to apple menu, control panel, ConfigPPP and select Open, or just use a MacTCP based program.

I've upgraded to MacOS 8, and it doesn't work! Help!

You might need to reconfigure your Internet Setup Assistant.
  • Double click the hard drive, Internet folder, and the Internet Setup Assistant.
  • Supply your login and password, and the DNS servers that you were given by CGAZ.COM.
  •  Your SMTP and POP3 server is cgaz.com
  • Your news server is news.cgaz.com

How do I configure MacTCP and DNS Settings?

  • Go to Apple Menu, Control Panel, and open MacTCP. Highlight PPP in the main window, and choose More.
  • Under "Obtain Addresses" choose Server. Under "IP Address" choose Class C.
  • Under "Domain Name Server Information" enter cgaz.com as the first domain. Enter a period in the 2nd and 3rd boxes.
  • Under "IP Address" enter 65.121.31.3 in the first two boxes.
  • Enter 65.121.31.4 in the third box down.
  • Set the top boxes as default, then choose OK and restart your Macintosh.

How do I set up my modem?

  • In the Apple Menu, choose Control Panel and open ConfigPPP.
  • For the Port Name, choose Modem Port, set Idle Timeout to 15, and Echo Interval to off.
  • Choose both Hangup On Close, and Quiet Mode.
  • At the bottom, choose the Config button. Enter the name of your PPP Server (CGAZ.COM).
  •  Set Port Speed to 57600. Set Flow Control to CTS and RTS (DTR).
  • If you have a GlobalVillage modem, you should set the flow control to CTS (ONLY). Mark "Tone Dial"
  • Enter the access phone number (provided by CGAZ.COM) and a modem-init string, and set the Modem Connect Timeout to 60 seconds.
  • Select the Authentication button, and enter your username in the Auth ID field.
  • Enter your password.
  • Choose OK, then Done. Your configuration is complete.
